Weekly News Blast

Whoa! One minute public works is snowplowing and the next they are mowing. We’ll have to wait to see if spring is here…? Stop signs will soon be installed at the junction of 90th and Mill – the first four-way indicated for the Town. Hopefully, that will deter some of the speeding between Evergreen and CTH W. This was the last week for Public Works employee and Zoning Administrator Marty Rutz who will retire effective March 31, 2024. When you see him be sure to thank him for nearly 19 years of service to the Town of Grant.

The revised solar overlay map and rationale that was approved by town residents and the Town Board on February 14th was denied by the Portage County Planning & Zoning Committee this week. If or when the Portage County Board of Supervisors decides to “fold” our revisions into the County’s own Comprehensive Plan (which, by the way, was approved by the P&Z Committee this week) will be determined at a later date. Speaking of Portage County, we’ve received a few complaints about the amount and type of tree cutting that has been done by them. If you live on a county road (F, FF, W, WW, U) and have concerns, please contact the Highway Department at 715-345-5230. We, the Town, didn’t do that tree cutting!

Have a safe and festive holiday weekend if you celebrate, Sharon
