Weekly News Blast

This week we experienced quite a bit of rainfall and high winds. Hopefully, no one experienced personal damage to their home or property. Here in the Town, we noted the collapse of a culvert on 100th Street south of Timm Road (attached). A section of road is closed until the culvert can be replaced. Supervisor Provost will be guiding us through the permitting and replacement process. Our part-time public works employees cleared a few trees from our roads and rights-of-way, and Supervisor Steltenpohl completed a road inspection for future reference and possible maintenance work this season.

Results are in from Portage County Highway Department regarding the two proposed bridges for 100th and 95th Streets over Fourmile Creek. Per Commissioner Nathan Check “the low bid was Sheet Piling Services out of Custer at just under $622,000. There were five total bids with next lowest at $631,000 and highest at $719,000. The Engineer’s estimate was around $700,000. All bidders said that next year is going to be much higher, so it was a great time to bid and get both done”. Note: The T. Grant will be responsible for ½ of the final cost of these two bridges and accompanying roadwork.

Enjoy the holiday weekend and stay safe. Sharon
