See Something – Say Something: Some individual(s) have been cutting trees and dropping them  onto the road. This has included 6 trees over the past 2 or 3 days. Two trees were on Deer road at about 120th Street ...one tree on 100th between Deer and Griffith. two trees on Maple between 120th and 130th and one on Buena Vista about 200 feet from County F.         This is an obvious safety issue.  Citizens and visitors to the town could be injured, and vehicles could be damaged. It is taking time and energy of town employees to clear the obstructions.  Please, if you see something, say something. Call 911 and report anyone cutting trees and dropping them on the road to the Portage County Sheriff's Department.  Notify a town official so the tree can be removed..

Weekly News Blast

Our new Zoning Administrator Andrea Musch has been confronted “right out of the gate” with a menagerie of things. For some reason, this construction reason has been kind of crazy. For example: decades old setback violation, in-ground pool, property divisions within a commercial district, driveway culvert, cell tower changes, fencing inquiries, horse questions, rental squabbles, moving buildings within the town, shoreland zoning, mobile home, and more. In addition, Andrea, Plan Commissioners and Secretary Kathy Lee have guided the Board regarding a recent zoning change within our Transitional Agricultural District, and most recently, an auto repair shop’s Conditional Use Permit. All these items can be complicated and require thorough review. Please appreciate the work they do for our Town.

Appreciation is also extended to Clerk Stefanie Schlapa and Treasurer Greg Hakala for preparing our draft 2025 budget. We will hold the budget hearing, special meeting of the electors and town board meeting regarding the budget in early December. There is great news on the Transfer Station special charge. Thanks to our new compactor the amount on your tax bill will be down significantly. Thanks Supervisor Provost for promoting this great idea.

Enjoy yet another anticipated beautiful weekend. If you are bow-hunting, be careful out there. Sharon
