Weekly News Blast: The Public Works crew was busy this week cutting and brushing vegetation along our Town right of ways. And, when it got warmer, they were scraping snow (or should I say slush) from the hard-surfaced roads. Thanks are extended this week to Leo Kruger, Brian Kuhlman. Jerry Reinwand, and Garry Saeger. After ~ 10 years our revised Zoning Ordinance has been recommended for approval by the Plan Commission (PC) . Many of the revisions are those “keeping up with the times” with different word choices and descriptions of activities or businesses that one might expect to find a town of our size and with our population. Some things have been pulled from the Ordinance. For example, there is now a free-standing Sign Ordinance for those who might have a small business they want to advertise for example. Moving forward the PC may be working on updates to our Comprehensive Plan, considering Portage County’s subdivision ordinance (we are under their umbrella on these developments), and learning more about burials on private property (yes, you can do that in WI). There’s always something new to learn about land use planning. Hats off to all the Plan Commissioners who were committed to this important work for several years. Thank you. Enjoy the warmer weekend and “Go Pack”! Sharon
