Weekly News Blast: The Town Board held its monthly meeting on Wednesday. Treasurer Greg Hakala reported that our 2025 tax bills were available online and were being mailed. In fact, you may have received your bill today! If you look at it you will see several taxing jurisdictions including Portage County, Town of Grant, School District (Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, or Tri-County, depending on where you live), and Mid-State VTAE. The Town of Grant portion went down 7.1% largely because we paid off our plow truck loan this year. Overall, the total reduction on your taxes was down ~ 4.5%. Yahoo! By now most of you have heard of the lawsuits that were filed by former supervisor Heather Grys-Luecht. To date, these two lawsuits have cost our Town nearly $75,000 to defend. On Monday December 15 beginning at 9:00 am there will be Summary Judgement Hearing at the Portage County Courthouse, Circuit Court Branch 3, Judge Patricia Baker presiding. This Hearing is open to the public and you are welcome to attend. It’s going to be remarkably cold this weekend. Please be careful when outside. Stay safe, Sharon
