Weekly News Blast: It was a busy few days for several of our public work crew after a surprise storm hit our community and others around Central Wisconsin. A lot of trees fell onto the roads and yards, and cleanup has been ongoing since the storms ended Monday afternoon. I would like to give a shout out to the people in our community who helped move trees off the roads so people could travel safely. One resident I talked to, Eldred Getzloff, was moving a huge tree that was blocking Griffith Ave. He took his tractor and moved a huge tree off the road so people could pass. The public works employees who deserve a special shout out are Jim Yetter, Jerry Reinwand and Garry Saeger. Jim and Jerry worked until almost 11:00 PM on Monday as what started out as one tree and then another and another until they were cutting and removing them all evening long. On Tuesday more trees were found, so Jim and Garry were busy all morning and then had to come back in again after 4 PM to cut some more. A special and huge thank you to them and all the people that worked to clean up the mess. When you see our public workers, thank them for the long hours spent on getting our roads cleared up.  Supervisor Doug Steltenpohl

Weekly News Blast

Early Sunday morning the Board held a meeting to consider an Emergency Resolution to replace a failed culvert on 90th Street just south of CTH W. In quick response Supervisor Scott Provost shot the elevations and the points were surveyed for the culvert replacement. The failed 40” culvert will be replaced with one at least 48” in diameter and as such, will be eligible for a 50% cost share from Portage County. Supervisor Provost also filled out the required DNR permit application. Thanks are extended to him for all his work to expedite this important work as we anticipate it will commence as soon as possible.

Supervisors Provost and Doug Steltenpohl, Clerk Stefanie Schlapa and Deputy-Clerk Vicky Zimmerman and I attended individual depositions requested by the legal counsel retained by former Supervisor Heather Grys-Luecht. We are uncertain of the costs to all town residents due to this process and/or if a trial will be indicated. Further, town residents can decide if we, as a Town want to consider a lawsuit(s) in response to hers [recall some years ago the T. Grant sued Portage County over double taxation regarding ambulance service]. It is important to know that a town can sue and be sued. And so, it goes…

Don’t forget to get out and vote Tuesday April 1. The Town Hall will be open for voting from 7am until 8pm.

More wonky weather on the way this weekend…Sharon
