Weekly News Blast

The falsework was released on both bridges this week. According to oversight engineer Jim Wendels the decks flattened out very nicely and crowns are right where they need to be. The railings were also installed on both bridges and look so nice (pics heading above is 100th, all others below are 95th)! Today some roosters came to check out the construction so we’re asking: “why did the chickens cross the bridge”( 95th Street pics)? Send your reasons to the webmaster (webmaster@townofgrant-portage.wi.gov)and we’ll post a winner next week!

95th Street from Thursday, the 24th:

I sent a letter for the umpteenth time asking the County Executive to include the cost of our ambulance service in the 2025 Portage County EMS budget. Some of you may recall that Portage County paid our costs for United Emergency Medical Services (UEMR) for a couple years, then stopped when an EMS levy was imposed under the auspices of county-wide service. One problem – we pay for Portage County ambulance service (Stevens Point, Plover, and Amherst) which we do not use AND UEMR which we do. So, we are doubly taxed. Every resident in Portage County has their ambulance service paid for EXCEPT those in the Town of Grant.. Well, we’ll see what happens this go-around…Please let your county supervisors, Jim Yetter and Amberle Schwartz, know your thoughts on this.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock you should know there is an election on Tuesday November 5. Polls are open from 7am until 8pm. If you need to vote early contact Deputy Clerk Vicky Zimmerman to make an appointment.

That’s all for now. Enjoy the weekend, Sharon
