Kudos to our Town for such a high percentage of eligible voters who came out to vote – either via absentee, early voting, or day of. In total 1238 residents voted. That’s great!
Two major road construction projects were nearly finalized this week. Concurrent with Election Day we were able to open the bridges on both 95th and 100th Streets over Four Mile Creek. They look nice and are an incredible improvement over the failing culverts and skimpy handrails that buffered the roads previously. Pine Street (CTH U – 90th) had its shoulders completed after the paving was done. This road will now be able to withstand both normal vehicular traffic and heavy agricultural traffic.
The east end of Pine Street, near the intersection of 105th experienced extensive flooding this week after a beaver dam was discovered under a culvert. Attempts to pull the dam were unsuccessful so folks from the Portage County Drainage District will help us to clear the debris to open the culvert and subsequently, the road. As they say, it’s “always something”!
The nice weather is hanging on (and on)…if you are out bow-hunting be safe out there.
Enjoy the weekend, Sharon
