Road Closure: The following is an important message from Nathan Check, Portage County Highway Commissioner: Portage County Highway Department will be closing CTH U(80th Street South) between Church Avenue and Quarry Road. The culvert is located approximately 800’ south of Quarry Road. The nearest address is 8330 80th Street S, Wisconsin Rapids which will need to be accessed from the north. The Highway Department is in the process of setting up a detour which will utilize STH 73 to CTH F to CTH W. Road opening will depend on the damage assessment once flows are reduced.
We realize that many of you may have had trees or brush that fell due to the recent snow and winds. However, until further notice we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing brush to the Transfer Station. We recently had some equipment failures so are unable to move or otherwise push the brush at this time. Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for the temporary inconvenience. Sharon
