Weekly Blast!: Every once in awhile I sit back and think how lucky I am to work alongside such a great group of dedicated and smart folks on the board, committees, and employed here in the Town of Grant. This week a lot was accomplished. Here are just a few items: Public Works employees Leo Kruger and Garry Saeger cleaned out the basin of the oil tank, prepped the new basin for the anti-freeze drums, and built an overhang structure for both. It’s exciting to offer these recycling opportunities for our residents and to add to our overall good marks for the Transfer Station. Plan Commissioners Jodi Lomma, Kathy Lee, Tom Reitter, Jeanne Eggebrecht, along with Supervisor Doug Steltenpohl, Clerk Stefanie Schlapa and I met to review and consider the final change to our Comprehensive Plan regarding data centers. Recent updates to both our Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance will be heard by the Portage County Planning & Zoning Committee on Tuesday October 27th. More road base was being hauled onto 100th Street north of Elm and graded by operator Steve Dobeck. SolutionZ LLC from Marshfield paved over the culvert recently replaced on 90th Street south of County Road W. Clerk Schlapa, Treasurer Greg Hakala and I met to review the draft 2027 proposed budget. Thanks to Stefanie for prepping the draft prior to our meeting. The budget hearing will be held in November. More to follow on that… Enjoy yet another beautiful weekend. Weekly Blast!

The Town Board held its monthly meeting on Wednesday. Annual appointments were made as follows: Board of Appeals – Darcy Held (3-year term); Portage County Groundwater Citizens Advisory Committee – Andrea Musch, Delegate, and Cecile’ Johnson, Alternate Delegate (1-year term); Color Guard – Trudy Knipple – (1-year term); Plan Commission – Kathy Lee (2-year term), Jeanne Eggebrecht and Tom Reitter (3-year term); Zoning Administrator – Andrea Musch (1-year term).

 

An ordinance to appoint a deputy Zoning Administrator will be considered at our next meeting. If YOU are interested in getting involved in our Town government the follow appointments are open: Board of Appeals – two (2) positions (3-year term); Plan Commission – Secretary (1-year term). Please let me know by email or 715-213-1717 so I can tell you more about the responsibilities of these positions.

 

There was a lot of activity on south side of Mill Road this week east of County Road U. Old, plugged, cement driveway culverts were removed and new culverts installed.

In addition, filled ditches were reshaped after the material was removed. Prior to this action lack of proper drainage led to local flooding. Thanks are extended to Public Works employees Leo Kruger and Garry Saeger, and Supervisor Scott Provost for conducting this work.
