Road Closure: The following is an important message from Nathan Check, Portage County Highway Commissioner: Portage County Highway Department will be closing CTH U(80th Street South) between Church Avenue and Quarry Road. The culvert is located approximately 800’ south of Quarry Road. The nearest address is 8330 80th Street S, Wisconsin Rapids which will need to be accessed from the north. The Highway Department is in the process of setting up a detour which will utilize STH 73 to CTH F to CTH W. Road opening will depend on the damage assessment once flows are reduced.

The Plan Commissioners met this week to consider extended public input regarding revisions to our Zoning Ordinance. Led by Chair Jodi Lomma the commissioners were able complete review of input and are now closer to presenting those final revisions for consideration.

A large 40” culvert on 90^th just south of CTH W has failed. Now the west side of the road is giving way where a hole has developed (pic). We have installed traffic drums and signage restricting passage just to the east side of the road (pic). The board will consider an emergency resolution to replace this culvert as soon as possible. In the interim please use caution when traveling this section of road. Thank you.
