What a busy week it’s been!
The recycled road base derived from the decades-long buildup of cement and porcelain at the Transfer Station has been completely spread and graded on 100th Street north of Elm. The cost of crushing pales in comparison to the value of the recycled material we received. We’ll provide detailed estimates later, but for now we are extremely pleased with this town board decision.
Public Works crew continued to brush our roadsides this week. A lot has been getting done without snow on the ground. It will continue in the coming weeks.
The Town is cooperating with Portage County Solid Waste Department and Habitat for Humanity to collect holiday lights. You’ll find a receptacle with a pink notice attached. Please help if you have lights to recycle. Thank you.
The Plan Commission met this week. The Commissioners are intent on completing revisions to the Town’s Zoning Ordinance by year’s end. And it looks like we just might make it! Kudos to Kathy Lee, PC Secretary who has been an outstanding partner in this long endeavor. She intends to step down after the Ordinance is completed. So, if you are interested in this secretarial position, please contact me at chair@townofgrant-portage.wi.gov or 715-213-1717. It’s a lot of work!
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock it’s the opening of gun deer season tomorrow. I encourage you to test your kills for Chronic Wasting Disease. The heads can be dropped off at the DNR station on Griffith Avenue. You can also dispose of your carcasses there should you choose.
Be safe out there, Sharon
