Weekly Blast!: Something historic happened this week…Wait – did you think I was going to talk about baseball? Well of course, that was amazing! Milwaukee and all Wisconsinites have a lot to cheer. But I’m talking about the unanimous decisions by the Portage County Planning & Zoning Committee to approve the changes to our Zoning Ordinance to include the revised solar overlay map and rationale, and changes to our Comprehensive Plan to include our definition of data centers, prohibit them in all zoning districts, and create a “floating zone” which would require a zoning change with public input and the ability to say yes or no to that kind of development in our community. The Town of Grant becomes one of only a handful of municipalities in the state of Wisconsin that has used this land use change for their future planning. We the Town have had independent zoning for decades and times like these demonstrate the relevance of our independence. It was warming to hear members of the P&Z Committee congratulate the Town of Grant and thank us for “leading the way”. It has indeed been a historic week. Congratulations. Happy Halloween, Sharon

NOTICE: 2026 Proposed Budget Hearing & Special Meeting of the Electors

TOWN OF GRANT PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that on Thursday, December 4th, at 6:00 pm at the Grant Town Hall, 9011 County Hwy. WW, a PUBLIC HEARING on the 2026 PROPOSED BUDGET of the Town of Grant in Portage County will be held.  The proposed budget in detail is available for inspection by contacting the Town Clerk at 715-213-7370, clerk@townofgrant-portage.wi.gov, or Town Website Agendas & Minutes page.

 

NOTICE OF SPECIAL TOWN MEETING OF THE ELECTORS OF THE TOWN OF GRANT, PORTAGE COUNTY

Notice is hereby given that on Thursday December 4th immediately following completion of the Public Hearing on the proposed 2026 budget, which begins at 6:00 PM at the Town Hall of Grant, a special town meeting of the electors called pursuant to Section 60:12(1) ( c) of  Wisconsin Statutes by the town board for the following purposes will be held:

  1. To adopt the 2025 town tax levy to be paid in 2026 pursuant to Section 60:10(1) (a) of Wisconsin Statutes.
  2. Authorize the town board to hire town officers as employees of the town in an emergency and set an hourly wage pursuant to Sec. 60.10(1) (g) of Wisconsin Statutes.
