2026 Partisan Primary – Happening Now!: The 2026 Partisan Primary is underway! Polls will be open in the Town of Grant until 8:00PM. If you have not yet returned your absentee ballot, you may return it to the black dropbox located near the town hall back door prior to the close of polls. Photo below! ✅ Wisconsin residents who are not registered to vote can do so at the polls on Election Day. You can complete a paper voter registration form at your polling place on Election Day. In order to register, a proof-of-residence document with a current address is required. Learn more at https://elections.wi.gov/Register  If you’re unsure of your voter registration status, visit the MyVote website. Online voter registration for the November 3 General Election, which doesn’t require the voter to print or sign a paper form, resumes after the August 11 Partisan Primary.   ✅ You need an acceptable photo ID to vote and your ID for voting does not need to show your current address. Your acceptable photo ID for voting does not need to show your current address. Most voters already have the photo ID they need to vote, such as a Wisconsin driver license or ID. If you have ID questions, please visit the Bring It to the Ballot website or call 1-866-VOTE-WIS for information. A voter who does not have an acceptable photo ID must be offered a provisional ballot and the opportunity to submit a photo ID within three days after the election. ✅ You may only vote for candidates of one party in the primary. Wisconsin law allows voters to choose which political party’s primary they wish to vote in without having to register to vote with a party affiliation or designation. However, a voter may only vote within one party’s primary on the August 11 ballot. Put simply, voters must pick a party preference when filling out a ballot for the Partisan Primary and stick with that party down the ballot when choosing their candidates of choice. If you select a party preference but vote in multiple primaries, only your chosen party’s votes will count. This is called crossover voting. 2026 Partisan Primary Election Information

The Partisan Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 11th, 2026. All polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Voters can find their polling place and view additional election information at MyVote.wi.gov.

2026 Partisan Primary Sample Ballot

Vote Absentee by Mail

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may submit a request to vote an absentee ballot to their municipal clerk.  A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen who:

  • will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day.
  • has resided in the ward or municipality where they wish to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election.

The elector must also be registered to vote to receive an absentee ballot.  Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued*.

Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the primary or election or both.  You may make written application to your municipal clerk for an absentee ballot by mail, by fax, by email or at MyVote.wi.gov. Or you may apply in person at the clerk’s office during the In-Person Absentee Voting period listed below.

Your written request must include:

  1. your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote
  2. the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different from the address above
  3. your signature
  4. a copy of your photo identification*

The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is:

5:00 p.m. on the fifth day before the election, August 6th, 2026

*Voters who are indefinitely confined due to age, illness, infirmity, or disability may not be required to provide photo ID. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

**Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror.  If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

In-Person Absentee Voting

Residents may cast their ballot before Election Day by voting in-person absentee at the Town Hall on:

Public Test of Voting Equipment

The Town of Grant will conduct a public test of the electronic voting equipment on:

This test is open to the public to demonstrate that the voting equipment will correctly count the votes cast for all offices and on all measures.
