Notice – Zoning and Comprehensive Plan Changes – Town of Grant, Portage Co

Weekly Blast!: The F3 tornado that severely damaged the City of Menasha last week has been devastating to that community. Have you ever wondered what the Town of Grant would do in case of a similar disaster? Recently Portage County Emergency Managers Bob Weinert and Tanner Arnold, T. Grant First Responders Jim Yetter and Keith Kardash, and Clerk Stefanie Schlapa and I met to work on a Local Emergency Response Guide. All Portage County municipalities are required to have this document available, but it needs to be reviewed and updated every so often. Case in point…Menasha. So, what does this Response Guide entail? We must identify where could residents go if their structures were in danger or uninhabitable, and who we the Town could call on to supply three critical items: food, water, and power. Emergency contact names and their numbers are included in the Guide. Questions including if there are critical infrastructures that could be impacted, for example chemical, commercial, communications, emergency services, energy, transportation, etc. In the next few weeks, we’ll be reconvening to make updates to our Guide. Notice – Zoning and Comprehensive Plan Changes

The Town of Grant is required to a maintain a list of property owners who want to receive notice of any proposed zoning action that may affect the allowable use of their property. Section 60.61(4)(f), Wisconsin Statutes.

The Town of Grant is also required to maintain a list of property owners who want to receive notice of any proposed changes to the Comprehensive Plan that affect the allowable use of their property. Section 66.1001(4)(f), Wisconsin Statutes. The Comprehensive Plan does not directly regulate property use, but any subsequent zoning changes must be consistent with the Plan. See Section 66.1001(2m)(a) and (3), Wisconsin Statutes.

To request to be added to either or both notification lists, please submit a written request to the Town Clerk at 9011 County Road WW, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494, or email the Town Clerk at clerk@townofgrant-portage.wi.gov. Please include your name, property address, parcel number, which list or lists to be added to, and preferred method of notification (either via email or direct mail) with proper contact information. Note your request to receive notification does not need to be renewed.
