Weekly Blast!: It’s been busy week of meetings for important Town information… On Wednesday morning there was a meeting for Transfer Station employees. We covered the recent receipt of our WI Dept. of Natural Resource recycling grant, our 2026 tire day collection, considered revising data sheets for bulk and other items, apprised employees about our 2026 Recycling Ordinance, covered newly required record-keeping of discarded electronics, and considered some new signage for our various TS recycling stations. That evening the Plan Commission met. Included was a review of a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) to determine how the owner was complying with some of the conditions, discussed two possible rezones, reviewed a zoning enforcement letter, and prepared for a pending public hearing regarding changes to our Comprehensive Plan. On Thursday afternoon the Board of Review convened. This annual event allows officers (and any interested landowner) to review changes to the assessment roll, confirming them, and then witnessing the assessor sign off on the submitted roll. There were 101 pages of changes, the majority ~$40 step ups per acre to agricultural land use value. Then, based on the zoning permits that were submitted in 2025 we saw where new construction including homes, garages, accessory buildings, etc. were built. The roll also indicated where landowners had new or amended Managed Forest Law entries into the system. Overall, it’s a very interesting event to see how the Town’s “value” is determined. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

TOWN OF GRANT

Wednesday, January 22, 2025  

6:30 pm

 

The Plan Commission of the Town of Grant  and the Board of the Town of Grant, Portage County, Wisconsin, will be holding a Public Hearing on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, 9011 County Road WW. The purpose of the hearing is to allow all interested parties to be heard concerning proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance. The amendments revise the intent, permitted uses, and conditional uses in all zoning districts within the Town, delete the Farmland Preservation Overlay, provide more detail regarding obtaining a zoning or conditional use permit, clarify the role of the Zoning Administrator, delete the Signs section in order to make it a standalone ordinance, change the title of the Board of Adjustment to Board of Appeals and clarify its function, edit the section on quarrying, adjust penalties associated with a violation of the ordinance, and revise the definitions. All interested parties are invited to attend. Written comments can also be submitted to the Town Clerk until 6:30pm the day of the hearing.  A copy of the proposed ordinance showing all of the amendments will be available from the Clerk by calling 715-423-9193 (town hall) or 715-213-7370 (clerk cell phone)  and on the Town website at https://townofgrant-portage.wi.gov/agendas-minutes/
