Seasonal Weight Road Restrictions: On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Portage County Highway Department will be removing seasonal weight restrictions on all County Trunk Highways East and South of the Wisconsin River with the exception of CTH X and CTH DB.   All County Trunk Highways West of the Wisconsin River along with CTH X and CTH DB will remain posted until conditions change.  Once a final date has been determined, a separate press release will be sent out for the remaining roads.  Additional information can be obtained by contacting the Highway Department office at (715) 345-5355 or on our website at  https://www.co.portage.wi.gov/287/Highway-Department-Policies-Procedures-a Please note that these weight restrictions are for County Trunk Highways only.  Any weight restrictions on State, City, Village, or Town roads are handled by each individual municipal entity.

Road Hazards Reminder

The Public Works crew continues to clear trees from roadways following the recent ice storm. Our team arrived at the town hall bright and early this morning and has been working steadily to address hazardous conditions.

Crews will continue removing trees from roadways and will proceed with full cleanup as soon as it is safe to do so.

Any trees in danger of falling on a power line should be reported directly to the appropriate power company.
